Do misbars produce misbars?

Probably not. Misbarring is usually more a sign of non-pristine water conditions in early development.

That said, I have heard reports that at least one of the Picasso lines does tend to produce mostly Picasso clown offspring but that other Picasso lines only produce a very small percentage.

How's that for a complete non-answer? :)

I can't imagine that the water quality at ORA is non-pristine yet they sell misbars. I'm considering the reputation of ORA and their stock. Would the offspring of a misbarred pair produce a perfectly barred fish?

I don't know. Quality control on stock from ORA seemed to be pretty bad the last six months, at least with the stock they sent out this way. There were a lot of really poor looking clowns out here under the ORA banner. Have they gotten it back under control?

I heard ORA almost went bankrupt. They are probably cutting costs wherever possible.

Not that I have seen anything from ORA to my knowledge.

My breeding pair of B&W Ocellaris are both misbars and they do produce more misbar offspring than my two orange pairs combined. None of the Orange adults are misbars. The Orange pairs produce almost no misbars and the B&W would be close to 50%. The Orange ones do produce offspring with extra white patches (As an extra spot or extension of one of the stripes) and I have never seen this in any of my juvenile B&W's. This is consistent from batch to batch. I am tending to think there is a genetic link but I could be wrong. (Wouldn't be the first or last time!!!)

i used to work at ora, and ive seen alot of stores advertise ora aquacultured clownfish that look like ****, and i think their lying. ORA's really strict on fish they send out and throw away alot of fish for just looking scrawney or having other disformities. but in the broodstock area that i worked the manager complained alot about their mating fish having deformities like being misbared a paralysed tail and a bunch of other stuff that they're gonna try to get rid of so i'm pretty sure that offspring have a better chance to be misbars or have other deformities if the mated pair was...

There seems to be a lot of variables involved, both water quality related and genetic. Kind of keeps it from being a clear cut answer in any direction.
