Do my clownfish want to spawn?

HI all,

I have a 14G biocube with a little jawfish, magenta dotty back, and two false percs. The clowns were very small when we got them with the tank about 6 months ago.

Now they have grown substantially in size to about 2 inches.

As of late, the clowns have been doing a lot of fast quick movements and doing a lot of sand tossing. It always occurs in the same place, back left corner of the tank.

Does this mean that they are itching to mate? Will anything bad happen if they dont mate?

Thanks for any help.

I just wanted to note that I am not trying to breed them. But another question that I have is, will they lay eggs even with other fish in the tank?

If they do, what should I do? Just leave them and they will be disposed of by itself over time, or should I remove them?

If I do have to remove them, what should I do with them? ( I am not ready for rearing anything right now, so that is out of the subject).

Thanks.

if they lay they will pertect them from other fish. but they will become fish food or go threw your powerheads and filters when hatch.

That is typical mating type behavior. They could lay eggs, or just keep up with that behavior for quite some time without laying any eggs. The presence of fish usually won't stop them either. If they do lay eggs, the fry will just become fish/coral food ;)
