i just received a Crocea clam yesterday, via mail, he had some brown/ornange coloration on it's mantle, seemed worse today but it may have just been because the clam was more extended, he has good reaction, anytime someone is near the tank he jerks closed then comes back out. I have a 46 euro tank with 1-250 de, mh and 2 x 65 actinic. all params are good, ca is 400+, alk 2.5, nitrates are higher around 7-10. after i unpacked him i put him on the bottom, today i moved him half way up the tank, i can still put him higher. does this normally happen when they have been shipped? will his color return? thanks for advice in advance.

couldn't get pic to load, will post later.

crocea's come in brown and orange. Generally they are called gold crocea's. I cant say without pic's but your clam sounds normal.

If it looks like this then it is perfectly normal. Thats how ultra crocea's are supposed to look.

thanks "skinz78" how'd you get that pic up i read the instructions and tried every way i could think of to get it to display, and i don't consider myself computer "stupid" by any means.

The only thing I notice with your clam is it looks like the mantle is a touch bleached. I would keep him halfway up in the tank for about a week. You can then move the clam closer to the light as needed, but it most likely won't be necessary.

You were close to getting the picture to work, but you left off an " / " it should be [ IMG ] "your link" [ /IMG ] (( remove all the spaces I put in ))
