Do Not Do This!!!!!!!!!

my two black ocellaris' have been ignoring the green haddoni carpet i got for them...so i decided to try and 'lure' one of them into the carpet with some food and when he 'nestles' into carpet...he would have found his new home...

well, when he made contact with the carpet...BOOM! he was snagged and being drawn in! i yell 'oh no' and get my hand in there and was able to free him in about a second. he still has carpet remnants on him but i hope he makes it...

i 'thought' that since black ocellaris' (i read) are so symiotically bound to carpets in the wild...that they would have no problem hosting in it...i thought they just needed a nudge. NOPE! there obviously needs to be some sort of clown mucus development in order for them to host in it.

i feel REALLY REALLY BAD that i did this to him...i mean really, really, really, really, really bad...:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

This kind of stuff is why I think it's best to just let them host in their own time...bad things happen to good people (and fish) when aquarists get antsy about making things happen, though I haven't heard of this specific incident happening before, but I'm sure it has.

I'm glad that your clown is okay...it's a good thing you acted quick and got him out unharmed! Don't beat yourself up too bad, everyone wants their clowns to host an anemone right away, and at the very least your clowns are both okay and the carpet is fine, and you've learned something about how you want to handle you fish from now on.

Maybe the clowns will take to the Haddoni in their own time! Good luck!

My true perc did the opposite..it dove right in and make itself at home as soon as I put the carpet in.
