My foxface rabbitfish died today :(

He was 4 yrs old. He had this lump in his belly for a few months, I really didnt know what it was, but he didnt seem to care. I thought nothing of it... until a few days ago when he got stuck on a coral.

My fish never get stuck on coral.. ? He disappeared yesterday, and today I found him floating..

Sad....Was it old age? he was about 10 inches long. Big lump in his belly....

Anyone have any ideas? One of the first fish that I have ever got too.... I am kinda sad today.

The only way to know for sure would be to do a necropsy. I don't see why they would be immune from tumors. There certainly are a lot of toxins floating around our tanks.

I had a large Asfur Angel develop a large tumor, and died shortly after. This fish had been in my tank for 5 years.

That's very sad. He may have had any of a range of ailments including blockage in the intestine or, as you say, a tumor. It's not likely to be contagious, whatever it was.

Oh well, he was a cool fish, I will miss him. He was with me for soo long. I had him for 4 years. The tank misses him.

It was a big lump that slowly got bigger... There was nothing I could do :(
