Do Ricordia have a feeding response?

A piece of flake food fell onto my Ricordia and it kind of "trumpeted" up. I am curious if it was doing this to consume the food or was it agitated? I've tried to spot feed with PhytoPlex stuff by Kent and never saw any response out of my Zoos or Shrooms so just curious what happene.d

I have been dropping mysid on my rics for a while and they love it. Some will only eat if I drop it near thier mouth though. It is pretty cool to watch them eat jusst like any other coral.

Both Ricordea varieties feed. A larger piece of food may trigger a feeding response/prey capture right away. The food item will be slowly moved by the polyp folding and wiggling, passing the food from tentacle tip to tip untill it can bring it's mouth to bear. Fine food is usually gathered up slowly with no easily visible activity other than cupping. They probably cleanse themselves at night when they roll up into a tight little ball for an hour or two. Quite frankly there are probably next to no corals that do not feed in some way. Even Xenia has a rudimentary gut although most of their dietary intake is speculated to be absorbed directly from the water rather than capture based.
