Do sps corals need daylight to grow/colour up?

Is it possible to do away with it?

I currently using Ati t5 tubes:

2 Blue Plus
1 Purple Plus
1 Aquablue Special..

Feel like replacing the aquablue with something else

any suggestions

Those tubes are fine. You can also use 2 blue+ and 2coral+ instead.

Ditch the aquablue, go with the coral plus

+3 coral plus.. but depending on your tank size you might not have enough light. You should shoot for 3w per gallon.

I run 3 blue + 1 purple +. Blue + bulbs have very high par even though they are blue. I don't think the difference between enough light or not enough light is going to be one bulb especially if it's not a actinic. Adequate lighting would be more dependent on the type of fixture and the depth of the tank in my opinion. Watts per gallon is also an outdated method of determining how much lighting you need.
