Do SPS need light acclimation?

Are you supposed to start SPS at the bottom of the tank liek you do with other corals? The frags I bought were under led's and my tank has 2 150w mh.

The person I bought the frags from said to go ahead and put them right under the mh lighting which i've done. So, what do i do now? Do I move them to the bottom of the tank now ro just leave them be?

How long have you had them there? You could try just cutting back your lighting and then add 30 minutes every day.

1 week. I'll try that. What should I start the mh's out at?1 hour? Also, I assume it doesn't matter how long the actinics are on or does it?

If it has been a week and everything looks good then I wouldn't worry about it. If the corals aren't looking too great then you could start with 50% of your current time then add 30 minutes a day until you get back to full time.

If it is wild or maricultured, light acclimate. If it is a frag from another tank or aquacultured, no acclimation needed.

agree....except when your tank is much brighter then the tank the frag was cut from...then start them on the sand bed.

It never hurts to start them on the sandbed though.
