Do you consider Bristle worms beneficial or a pest?

I just had a FB discussion that there was 2 differing opinions on this subject, So I will ask the question here. Do you consider Bristle worms beneficial or a pest?

i have a semi new tank setup and am looking for some So i hope everyone is right.

Although has anyone seen them when they are HUGE! What happens when they get to be 6inch+ long?

What were the reasons they gave for them being pests?

You do have to be careful when you pick stuff up. Finding one accidentally isn't recommended.

Other than that, they're just one of the many creatures in our tanks that eat stuff.

I've got 12-15" bristleworms. They're part of the ecosystem like mentioned above

They are beneficial until you start moving rocks...then they are painful!

Curious, to they bite or are the bristles stick you? Any reactions or just pointy.

I always remove them. I know they are beneficial scavengers but they scare me. I touched a fireworm on the beach on my last trip to Fiji. That was enough for me to want all these worms out of my tank.
