Large purchases for me are usually known well in advance and necessary. I don't get upset over them. I'm actually thrilled because it usually means one more piece of the puzzle is out of the way.

As other's stated, it's the little items that I try to sneak in sometimes that make me feel guilty. My wife can spot a new coral in the tank within 5 seconds of looking at it. About all I can get away with is maybe a nocturnal crab or something.

yes, and go back and forth on if I should call and cancel an order etc... not that I even spend alot... but I'm a stay at home mom and my husband is NOT into my tanks... if he had ANY idea how much I actually spend on them he would freak out... I figure I could be the type who spends a fortune on clothing or shoes, since I'm not it all sort of works out... right? ;)

If the girlfriend is cool with it, then so am I.

It's coming home from the store with a $500 dollar purchase and she asks "how much did that thing cost?" that gives me a feeling like I'm gonna puke. :worried:

It's not the big purchases that bother me. It's what I fugred out I spent at the end of the year for all those little purchases. They usually add up to more than the big purchases.

It hit me lasty weekend while at Daytona when I was holding my race ticket and I was thinking what I could have bought with that money....

But I did come home and buy four new fish for my tank to make me feel better!

I am usually quite satisfied when I purchase high end items. I kick myself in the rear when I realize how much I could have saved if I didn't purchase the low end equipment beforehand.
