Do you feel bad getting rid of a fish?

I have this picasso trigger I've had since I got my tank that has become somewhat of a terror the past few weeks. He picks and bites my Panda Puffer and this is not acceptable because I fear the puffer is greatly stressed by this and I think this will affect his health. He is definately my fav fish in the tank and dont want him dying because of this. This is besides the point but arent puffers supposed to be rough and tumble and able to hold there own against aggressive fish?

So I feel like the trigger should be the one to go. But for some reason I am having a really hard time bringing back to my LFS. Im nervous some little kid is gonna like him, end up buying and then killing him. Makes me feel responsible. Of course he can also go to a nice home but I dont know anyone around where I live to give him to.

Should I feel bad returning him? I feel like I am abandoning him. Sorry for this rant.

Have you guys ever had to get rid of a fish? Was is as hard for you too? I feel like such a pansy getting close to a fish.

 pansy, ;). Most people get attached, i know I do.

Do you have a local aquarium? I have always thought that IF I have to get rid of a fish, I will take it to the local public aquarium so it can live the rest of its life in a 1000-1,000,000g+ aquarium.

I haven't had to get rid of too many fish. But, the ones I had to take back were because they were abusing or killing their tank mates, so I didn't feel bad.

You should definitely not feel bad for returning the trigger, not with the reason you provide.

I just had to return a Naso a month ago because he was growing way too fast. I felt bad because it was my fault for putting him in a 92G in the first place! He was sold pretty quickly, though.

I gave up a sailfin tang after 12 years and it really bummed me out but it was the right thing to do. I always get attached to my fish but sometimes a fish will turn aggressive and need to be removed, I've had a few fish turn into terrors and I was glad to be rid of them. Triggers are one of those fish that can become just plain nasty.

 pansy, ;)

LOL, i figured the very first post I would be called a pansy ;-)

I called the two local aquariums and they dont except any livestock donations (especially aggressive little picasso's ). Good idea though.

Im prolly a j.a. for thinking this already, but I cant help daydreaming about a crosshatch trigger to replace him with. Im already thinking about this and the picasso is still right there in front of me trying to seduce me to feed him. These are the Days of Our Lives...lol

=] Funny thing about it is it might not be the first post.

Hard to explain but When I posted both falconut and my post were in the thread. I clicked Reef Discussion, It showed me as the last poster. I refreshed, still showed me as the last poster. Rechecked the thread, falconut's post was last. Who was the first poster?

You have now entered the Twilight Zone! Things arent as they appear.

Shame they wouldnt take a trigger, my local aquarium has a sweet trigger that was donated a few years back. They also took a 3ft barracuda when the owner passed away. How to get a 3ft barracuda out of a fish tank?

I don't. :D I figure I'm the one who bought it, I need to keep it. My GBM is such a pain, but who would want her? She's my cross to bear.
