Do you guys know a license electrician who can help me add 2 or 3 more additional 20A circuit in the house? The third might be installed externally. Ofcourse, I will pay if can agree on the price.

It'll cost you around $300. Had mine done 2 20amps and new outlets..

:D that's kinda subjective :)

If he needs a larger service (if his current panel is maxed), it'll be in the thousand plus range, and PG&E will have to become involved.

I am an electrician in NYC and you can't come to a price on an explanation as vague as that. $300.00 sounds very cheap to me but like I said the guy would have to see it.

Man Paul, what do you not do  Your a treasure chest full of goodies. Dang, I just caught your Santa Claus now as well....Funny, that's not how I pictured you :)

Hats off to Paul, most definitely :) and I thought I had done a fair number of jobs and licenses in my lifetime... :)

Perry, it is not so easy as just adding some breakers and stringing the wires, as several on here have already commented on. Have you checked your panel for unused breakers ? The 3 that we set aside for our tank(s) were already there, just not being used (although I often have serious concerns over the sizes of services out here in Ca.. but then again natural gas does fill in the gaps of what I was used to in Florida for an adequate service :)).

Yeah depends how easily it is to get wiring from the panel to where you want. If there's a lot of drilling and pulling, that's gonna cost ya :) Not to mention if you have an older box with those old Federal Pacific breakers, the cool ones which are "rated" (ie they don't trip) beyond their listed capacity, you can get those but they are WAY pricier than new ones. Hell I don't know if an electrician can legally install the old ones, you can still buy them, but might be some code against licensed people doing that, in which case you might need a new panel.

Eitherway depending upon the severity of the job, you might want to do a semi DIY, and pull wire to where you want the plugs, then call in a pro to add the breakers & outlets. Just make sure you pull the right rated wire :D

sorry, guys I was not away snowboarding with my 7yr old (his first time and I was glad he like it) last weekend. I believe theres plenty of room to add a breaker in my panel box. My problem would be running the wires from my garage then down to my living room.

thats what the electrician did for my house... luckily downstairs in an unfinished basment which made it easier routing new wires and installing new outlets..

I just add circuits myself as long as you have the basic understanding of code you can do it yourself without any trouble... for reference I had some outlets installed in a house I was renting and it was $150 per circuit/outlet...

Paul is that you...

Paul is that you...

wow, ive finally met my friend and reefkeeper too, its good to see who you really are and put a face to it on Rc, thanx for sharing them piks of you paul...:wavehand:

Thank MC. I think I might just use the ckt from my kitchen which seldomly use anyway. There's about 3 ckt that is exlusively designated to my kitchen only plus one more ckt from the living room. So, I'll just spride the load for my tank on this 4 circuits.

if you are going to do that just make sure that you use the appropraite wire size for the circuit so if it has a 20 amp breaker use no less than #12 wire which is the typical standard size especially for a kitchen circuit. How far is your main panel from the area that you want to add outlets? Does it share any common walls if so running a new one would be rather easy.

Luckily one of the circuit in the kitchen shares a common wall. But the other two circuits in the kitchen I will have to ran a wire around the kitchen cabinet to get to that wall. The wall where the guy (he is replacing the carpet to solid hardwood) is facing will be where my new tank will be setup. Behind that wall is the kitchen.
