Do you have moisture issues?

Soo... I had a 150g setup with about 230g total volume. My house was a small ranch house built back in the 50s. I ended up with mildew in various areas of the house.

I've since moved to a newer house (2004) that is much larger. Addtionally my new tank is only going to be 40g. My girlfriend is concerned that we are going to have the same issue that I experianced in my old house.

So I guess my question is.... how do you prevent this from being a problem? I know some of you have much larger tanks then even my 150g was... How do you avoid the moisture issue?

I have about 220 gals. and a house we built in 04'. The AC helps on hot sticky days like today. It is the "warm/cool" days that I have issues with. When the AC or furnace is not running. I run ceiling fans in just about every room in the house...just trying to keep air circulating. I open windows when the humidity is low. I only notice some mold/mildew in the corners of my basement walls (poured concrete) that are above grade.

i was wondering the same question since i am putting a 150 in my basement and the basement is totaly finished also how to u prevent moisture from bulind up in ur stand if the sump is under it?

My system is 430 gallons not including the RODI i have sitting around which puts me over 500 gals in the basement. Like others have said with the AC on its not an issue too much. Its in the in between days where a dehumidifier is needed. I am considering an air exchanger but right now its not in my budget.

Hey Cove Beach, Your setup if I remember correctly it is in the basement right? Do you have it walled off to be a dedicated room or anything? Or do you have all the walls and ceiling left the way it is? I am going to have to come out and check out your setup one of these days, when is it good for you?

Yes my system is in the basement. Its not walled off but i did cover the ceiling over the tank as the basement is unfinished. Shoot me a PM and we can figure out a good time.

AC, by nature, takes humidity out of a room or house.

That's why if you have central air, humidity shouldn't ever be an issue when you are running it.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Piratefish likes summer breezes (?) and I have to suffer through days with no AC like yesterday.

So I have 3 fans and a dehumidifier running overtime in the basement and that seems to work well.
