Do you know who I am?

Hello all, I am requesting an ID on the Anemone pictured in my gallery. It is a hitchhiker on a piece of coral. The LFS said the coral came from Tonga. I think the anemone is a beauty. Does anyone know what it is. It looks like a BTA but she is small. Any info is appreciated.

This one?

It looks like a "rock anemone" to me.

That's not the common "rock anemone" (E. crusifer) from the caribbean. They don't have tentacles on the face of the oral disk like that. There are several different species from the south pacific area that resemble that anemone. Even professional anemone biologists have a hard time telling them apart. They are all usually very hardy and adapt to aquarium life quite well though.

I believe I have read that rock anemones are non-photosynthetic and require spot feeding, so you might want to check on that. :) Good luck! It's a pretty little 'nem.

I have a Caribbean "rock" I am sure this is not a "rock". I do love it though, very different. Thanks for all the info.

I can't identify your anemone from your picture. I know that there is a majano(sp?) type of anemone that is a common hitchhiker that resembles a BTA. In the past, I have e-mailed Daphne Fautin to confirm ID's.
