Do you like the Gemmatum Tang ?

This fish is so expensive cause it is not common, not cause anything else, there are more beautiful fish that are way cheaper.

All the expensive fish in the market today are not expensive cause they are beautiful.
Is adult Clarion angel more beautiful than adult Emperor, Majestic or Regal?
Ask 10 people in the street and one might choose the Clarion, maybe one.
Is Garibaldi not as beautiful as Clarion?

So?

Hello

I'am samy's friend and actually it's my gem tang.

I buy this fish not because he was rare or expensive but just because I love him !

And to speak about price, I pay it about 250 $... not cheap but really chepaer than in US !

bye

Sorry for my bad english :(

Hello Pingu

Are you located at Switzerland, Zurich? Mind telling which shop in Switzerland is selling the gem tang at $250 as I travel there quite often.

aws

The price is low because the boss of the shop is really cool and dont take any benefit on the fish and because Pingu has taked the fish just when it get out of the plane !!!

You also believe in Santa Claus and the easter bunny :D :D

there is no way they can sell the gem tang for 250. Maybe a black tang.. The collector charges more then 250$ for 1 when he ships them to a wholesaler!

I would never buy one for 3K. maybe 500 if i had room and some money "left over". :)

We don't belive in Santa Claus, we just have seen the bill ;)

So we can say that he sell me the fish without any benefice ;)

For the next time he will get some of gem tang, I know that the price will be about 400 - 500 $

No, the collector want 160 euros for it without the shipping.

I've seen the bill !

He wouldn't be my favourite fish either - but beauty is as they say 'in the eye of the beholder':) The 2nd pic certainly showed him in his 'true colours' and he is certainly very nice.

I don't go in at all for the attraction of rare species. Personally the rarer they are - the more I feel they should be left on the reef. Still It's good that we don't all find the same things attractive, or our fishlists would all be identical ;)

He is a very nice, healthy looking specimen - good luck with him!:D

Thank you, he is still healthy and will soon go in a 1200 liters tank !!!

If I didn't already know how much the fish was worth, I probably wouldn't like it as much as I do.

It kinda seems like a lambourghini, I'd love to own one but I know I never will.

I don't understand why they are so expensive in USA !!!???
Here it's hard to find it but when you find one you pay it max 300$ !!!

One time I asked a non fish keeper which fish was more attractive: a gem tang vs a yellow or purple tang, a conspiculatus angel vs. a blueface or emperor - in both cases the much cheaper fish was choosen. To us fishkeepers, beauty is often perceived by rarity; not apperances.

This is so true. I have always thought the common yellow tang was one of the better looking tangs but we do get so wrapped up in the rarities. Personally I think these rare or geographically limited fish should be left in the ocean.
