Do you remember?

Do you guys remember the first time you ever plugged in your metal halides? I just received mine in the mail today...all I can say is they are amazing! I'm going to need sunglasses to sit in my living room! I'm running 3- 250 watt XM10k's on ARO electric ballasts. They wired up in minutes and cranked right up. No flicker, not much of a delay...just lit right up! I guess now all i have to do is finish my canopy and get some water in this tank! Just sharing in my excitement...thats all!

Trust me...I finally understand how expensive this hobby is!

Wait till you have to change the bulbs! :D

Just wait -LOL eey 8 months or so LOL.
ANd yes i do remeber when i lit up my 3 400 watters, and btw i still do every month-or at least fpl reminds me .

You guys are scaring me...lucky for me my bill is usually only around 100bucks. Don't ask me how its that cheap...I think there may be a problem with the meter or something. My girlfriend lived in a studio and paid more money per month that I do and I live in a 2 bedroom townhouse. What is the most that it will go up with all the lights? 50 bucks a month? Thanks

That 750 watt lighting setup costs you about 9 cents for every hour you run it (FPL charges ~12 cents/kwh if you're over 750kW for the month). If you're running them 12 hours a day, that's $1.08. Over the course of the month, that's $31.80.

Of course, that's not counting the heat they produce, and the increased demands that puts on your AC unit. :D

i remember first time firing up MH. I felt like i was doing a science experiment and i kept waiting for a bulb to flow up in my face or something. it all went extremely well and i was thoroughly impressed w/ how the corals really lit up under the right lighting.
