Do you test for phosphate?

I was planning to buy a Hanna phosphorus checker and then read multiple reviews about inconsistency and the general inefficiency of being able to test phosphate levels in our aquariums. Do you check phosphate levels?

I dose vinegar and have no algae problems aside from wiping off the front glass once or twice a week. My mixed reef looks great for the most part, but I would love to see more growth. Should I spend $60 on a test kit, just run a conservative amount of GFO or leave well enough alone?

I test it everyday( obsessive about PO4)) .
I use the hanah colorimeter, 713. Gary M talked me into it years ago before he sold his. It has been very consistent over a thousand tests. It is rated at .04ppm +/- accuracy which is as good as any test kit. I think it performs better than that 95% of the time . The newer 736 checker has a better manufacturer's accuracy accuracy rating . A very useful piece of equipment for me.
