Do you unplug your cords or use switches?

Hey, pain in the butt to unplug them cords when i want to turn off certain components of my setup.

What do you guys use, like sets of inline switches or something

I'm gonna start re-wiring project this weekend...

Pictures are appreciated :)

Actually, I'm just setting up my first SW tank. I also didn't want to deal with unplugging components, so I bought one of those switch surge suppressors that were designed for placement under your monitor for turning your computer, monitor, printer on and off. I found on for about $20 and have a master switch for all components, an always on plug, and 4 button controlled plugs. I put some tape over each switch, and now have pump 1, pump 2, skimmer, and heater all controlled independently, or with a master on/off for those times when you need to shut down to do some work in the tank. I've read of people picking up these rack mounted DJ switching control units, but for the money, this seemed perfect for me. I have it placed on a shelf next to the tank, and can look across and see what's on or what's off.

My brother is an electrician so he built me multiple boxes with switches so for every 2 plugs I have a switch. I wouldn't live without them!

I built this when I built my stand. This pic is very old, but you get the idea.

I love it, so glad I took the time to make it.

I have two powerbars: one for the sump and one for the main display. Whenever I do maintaince (ie. water change), I just turn the sump powerbar off. Then when Im all done, the powerbar is turned on again, and everything is back to normal. Simple, easy and quick.

If you want cheap and easy... as well as convenient [timers ;) ]use powerstrips as stated above and digital timers for the lights.

Get one of those computer, monitor, printer power centers which are surge protected and offer variety of amps/wattage/joules options. Get it at Fry's, Best Buy type of places. Two of these have worked out very well for me - heaters, skimmer pump, return pump, PH's chiller are type of equipment I have plugged in.
