do you use BRS GFO/Carbon?

if so, what do you think about it? pros/cons?

does it work ok in their dual reactor?

which style carbon works better/do you prefer?

which style GFO works better/do you prefer?

thanks

I use the BRS gfo.. works good from what I can tell. I have one of their reactors but it is converted to run my pellets. dont get the pelletized.

I like their Rox .08 carbon - very easy to rinse / low dust.

Next time I order I will probably get some of their Lignite Carbon too and mix both together.

The Rox is good stuff but goes through most reactors and winds up in your tank. The Lignite is just fine and cost less IMO

maybe dumb questions but....

the site recommends using a maxijet 1200 for the dual reactor. do i really need one of these because i have a new 900 at the house? i get that its less flow, but what the reasoning for a 1200?

Up the pump Jay. You can always valve one back. Fwiw I am running pellets in their dual reactor and I have it hooked to my main manifold. Josh also runs one and the maximum they recommend was not good enough for him with gfo and carbon

Jay I think Ive used everything youve mentioned there. If your going to use the maxi1200 then use it on a single reactor and not the dual. Its just not enough power for a dual reactor if you buy one of those you need to manifold it off a bigger pump like alot of us do. In regards to carbon I like the large lignite carbon the best.

i can cut my header going to my skimmer and add onto there. i have my return pump teeing off to feed my skimmer, any issue doing that other than having to retune everything to get the right flow. i have a mag 18 and the discharge is cut back pretty good with ball valves.

well as soon as my BRS group buy kicks in this afternoon, im gonna be buying stuff :) and i guess i need to go to lowes and buy some pipe.

I researched the reactors a lot, most people say go with 2 singles opposed to the dual unit, as it can be a pain...and not as effective.

i guess that would also allow you to keep one running while changing/working on the other one. and i could still running off my header, just would have 2 valves

If you want to Save yourself some Upgrade Money Buy the MR1 Reactor First instead of wasting it on the BRS one! You will in the end Upgrade to a better one sooner or later JMO
