do zoas prefer attaching to a rock?

do frags prefer to be taken off the 'frag?' and attached to a rock? compared to a frag?
ive had my tank for 8 months.
and my first 2 frags i purchased were 2 zoas. a green and orange.
the orange has yet to grow any since i purchased it.
but the green ones fell off of the frag and attached themselves to a brain coral and have now 20ish polyps?
both started with only 5

Doesn't matter.
If they have to grow they will no matter on either one.

I was curious about this also. Would be easier to glue the frag plate to a rock and see if grows over. Placed colonies mear rocks and seen them attach that way.
