DOC 9005 on a 40g SPS tank?

I'm looking to get a skimmer for my new 40 gallon breeder tank & 10 gallon sump. The tank is going to have all SPS and couple of clams along with 2 or 3 fish. Will a Comline DOC 9005 skimmer do the job? I need a skimmer that is not too tall because the stand does not have much height. Also since I'm using a standard 10 gallon tank as the sump, I don't have much room for a skimmer with a large footprint.

Thanks!

The 9005 would work but my main concern would be that you will need a section with a 10" water level for the skimmer to work and that will greatly reduce the safety volume available. You could add the sump kit but by the time you buy the sump kit you are nearly in the 9010 price range which includes the sump kit. With this kit a water level of 4" is possible.

So I should just get the 9010? I guess an extra 2 inches taller isn't a big deal. Is it just the collection cup that is larger or is the skimmer body a different size than the 9005, too?

The collection cup and pump are the only differences, only the cup is taller. I would suggest the 9010 as the 9005 is mainly for in tank use.
