Hello Guys :)

Thanks so much for the kind comments..
I installed a 75pt. dehumidifier today... I was building the mount for it on a table saw and REALLY ripped up my finger bad :( I had the first kick back of my 30 year woodworking career ... Damn thing threw the mount plate through the wall LOL .. NOT I can feel the ache all the way up my wrist and even into my elbow I am lucky that I was always taught to rip while standing to the side or they would be picking wood out of my belly as we speak.. ahhh the finger will heal

I doo plan on running a web camera 24/7 But have not yet installed it .. those are red accent eyeball lights that you see there... The tank lights are so bright that camera automatically adjusted the exposure so you cannot really tell

The lighting rack consists of:
4X Lumenarc III SE with 400 watt 20K Radiums runing on Blue wave ballasts overdriven to 430 watts
8X Catalina 54 watt T5s (for dawn and dusk lighting with actinicsupp)
18 ft of blue moonlight rope LOL
2X 60 cfm Centrifical surgical blowers
The rack itself and roller rails are designed to hold 800lbs (my wife was worried about this)

All of the lights, fans ect are controlled by windows 2000 running Aquanotes 3.5 with a DC8 and a DC4HD

More to come

That light rack looks great!

If you don't mind, how do you like the light color of your Radiums w/ Blue wave ballasts? I have three 400W Coralvue E ballasts and I was thinking of trying Radiums. I don't run actinic so it would just be the Radiums.

Keep up the pics and info, I'm really loving this build out!

Ever since I saw the video in Middle school of the guy who DIDNT stand to the side while ripping I have stayed clear.

Nothing like a bad video w/ a simulated 2x4 stuck in the guys mid section to get the point across.

Looking good Chris!

Hello Guys,

Yes I have always loved Radiums... I started long ago with Coral Vues and they always looked very Blue but after switching to radiums I would never change... The Radiums really are NOT very Blue and thats why I like them. They are ummm "RADIATING White"

Thanks Lam... Good to see your following along

Ya Kewl story huh? The finger was dislocated and when I popped it back in my son almost puked "POP" I am a total idiot would you believe>??? now listen to this so right after I posted that horrid story about the kick back I went back down to the reef room and started working... I was Drilling a 1/2" hole in a 1/4" piece of acrylic to mount the probes for my aqua controller.. are ya with me? so the drill bit binds up? wierd huh well I hold it up to get a better look and like an idiot I squeeze the trigger to "Unbind it" it spins the Acrylic plate into my Face... Breaks my glasses, I thought... REALLY thought... it popped my eye because there was blood everywhere.. ended up with 1/4" lac. and a Black, swollen L. eye I was really lucky

DUH!

BAD DAY... Coulda been worse

man you better be careful doc before the fish tank finished you. hope you're alright now but i have 3 20k HQI radium for the rear and 3 14k hamilton for the front and VHO supp. i still love the light rack getting it professionally welded and even they charge you a good bit you always get what you paid for....please ups next day air the missing finger, hehe

awesome work so far. it sounded like you had a hell of a day, maybe take a couple days away from the tools, lol.

Chris...I would offer help, but you seem to have everything under control and way ahead of the game. Can't wait to see the project completed.

Thanks Eric :)
It will prolly take me a year to see if I like it or not...

Tommorow I will be adding 2 centrifical Blowers to the lighting system... they should be interesting

Later this week I learn to hook up my Koralline 4002 Ca+ reactor???

Does anyone use Phosphate reactors on large tanks?? They seem to all only support like 150 gallon tanks???

Doc-

I use one on my 600 gallon display (800 system). Its a deltec fluidized reactor with rowaphos filtration media. (Model: Deltec FR1016) Very effective in keeping my phosphates at 0.

Great thread. Just found it. Cant wait to see it keep coming together.

Well I added the first fish to the tank Last week :) a Copperband and he is doing well... The tanks parameters are perfect and I will hook up the Ca+ reactor tommorow... Tuesday has the arrival of:

1 Regal
1 Blonde Naso
1 Powder
4 Female Lyretails
1 Male Lyretail
2 Teardrop Ocellaris Clownfish

That's one of my favorite fish - I eventually want 2 for my office tank. Does the CBB eat frozen food, or do you have plenty of pods in the tank already?
