Does a plating sunset monti exist?

Just what the title says, I have the Halloween, which would be like a reverse sunset, but I am wondering if anyone knows of a "sunset" plating monti, or better yet, has one! I would love to see pics

There is the sunset aquituberculata that is green with orange polyps, I have yet to see a orange with green polyped plating monti.

u mount it in a way so that the encrusting growth can't encrust onto a surface and it will eventually plate out...for example try mounting a well encrusted frag disc to the tip of a piece of branch rock..another way to speed up the process is to leave encrusted frags sitting on the eggcrate for a good while and u will notice that it will try to spread onto the surface of the eggcrate which makes it plate out a little then u can mount it the way i mentioned...

Hello,

I am wondering if people have seen plating sunset monti since this topic was posted.

Thanks

Old thread revival. I have not seen one.

Sorry, yes, not yet halloween, but the dead have risen :). I am just wondering about this.

Are there bi-color plating montis? As in the plating is one color, polyps another?

Typically you will have a true encrusting Montipora like the original Sunset which will not plate. Then you can find semi-plating Montiporas that usually grow downward then plate outward when they reach an edge like Sand-dollar Montipora. And then there is true plating Montiporas, like Idaho Grape or Leng Sy Cap. You can find any of these growth forms in any potential combination of colors. But only true Sunset Montipora encrust. If it plate it is something else.

You can also put them on a bare bottom tank and they will form a big puddle and lift off the glass with a putty knife or credit card & then move the piece to a strategic location.

As a species it's probably not going to plate, I tried with a superman monti with gluing it mostly floating and it grew thicker along the edge but not by much. Best bet might to find something that plates but has similar colors, so many cool caps out there :)
