Ive been reading Marine Chemistry and was suprised and how significant it was saying iodine is. So I tested my water for it and its pretty much non existant with doing weekly waterchanges with TMPR. I dont keep a whole lot of softies which is what the book claims iodine attributes to mostly.

So my question is does anyone actively keep up with there iodine lvls and do you see a big difference if ya do?

I dose iodine but I don't test for it. I use Lugols and just do the weekly maintinance dosage. I figure my water amount a little low to make sure that I don't overdose. I just started doing this last month after reading about the importance of it online. I have to say my softies are growing like crazy. I have a huge finger leather that I have fragged about eight pices off of a couple of weeks ago and I need to frag more. Not sure if it is helping anything else as much but it is definately not hurting them.

I dose Lugol's too. It says 1 drop per 20g weekly. There is probably 10g of water in my 14g cube. I have been dosing 1 drop weekly for a long time, softies love it / mushrooms/rics inflate 30% extra that day. I've started doing 1 drop twice a week now... tank is hella full of soft corals now. Never tested.

I dose Lugols, don't test... As stated, corals love it... Overdosing will affect inverts... I also think it helps with water quality and nutrients... Be aware that your skimmer might go nuts when you first start dosing...

I dose 5 Ml a week and soft coral in my tank and some of my LPS seem to really like it, sps don't show a preference to it that I can observe.

I don't add anything that I can't test for. With that being said I haven't dosed iodine in years. Like Chris I don't bother with stronium or any of the other 'magic potions' either.

every once in a while (once every couple months), i squirt some iodine in. i do have a test, but i dose so rarely that i don't typically test for it.
