Does anyone have acropora with dendronephthya?

I have tried a couple of frags but they end up browning out so I feed them to my filefish. I don't know if its the lack of lighting, high nutrients, or a combination of both. Photosynthetic softies do ok for me though.

Excellent, we have a starting point. Couple follow up questions: How quickly did the frags turn brown? Did the polyps stop extending? How was the N and P at the time? Also what are you lighting the tank with and what is the photo period? Thanks for your time. I'm hoping one day to create an environment where I can keep them together so your experience means a lot.

The frags browned out within 1 - 1.5 weeks. The polyps extend less, but don't stop extending completely until I put them in my filefish tank.

Sorry I don't measure N & P, or Ca and Alk, but I will pick up some elos test kits tomorrow probably and let you know.

For lighting I'm using 4 x 39w T5 bulbs on icecap 660 with sunlight supply or tek individual reflectors. The bulbs are ATI Aquablue special, 2 x Pure Actinic, and KZ Fiji Purple. I placed the corals directly underneath the ATI bulb on the highest part of the rockwork, but the fixture is a good 16" above the water level. Lighting period is 6 hours.

I have both. You just have to watch your nutrient levels. I keep my acros at top and my Azoox at the bottom or under rocks.

I was worried about toxins released from the dendrones. Putting an acro colony in an nps dominated tank would be the best way to see. From what you observed could you rule out a chemical attack on the sps?
