Does Anyone Have ANy Chloramphenicol?

Hi all,

One of my wall hammers has recently come done the BJD and I was wondering if anyone had any chloramphenicol or know of a place where I could get some.

I'm pretty sure that you are going to need a script. You could call around to vet offices and try to find a vet that is familiar with coral or at least fish and will write you a script. The chances probably aren't good, but you could give it a shot.

I checked with my vet - NOPE - worried about malpractice,etc. because she did not "see/examine? the patient. IF you find someone - let us know.

Will do. I emailed my vet (it's the weekend, so they're not open) and explained my situation. I have a very good relationship with this vet, so fingers crossed! It's an antibiotic, so I couldn't do anything overly bad..... well, except murder someone. That's beside the point. I offered to bring in the coral. I've been dipping in Lugol's Solution.

I've been trying to see if any of the antibiotics available at tractor supply have been used for treatment but I haven't been able to find much info. Penicillin, Tyrosin, Oxytetracycline, Neomycin sulfate, Lincomycin Hydrochloride, or Ivermectin seem to be available.

Erythromycin is a pretty strong antibiotic, not sure how well it works on BJD. Red Slime Remover is believed to have erythromycin as it's active ingredient. So does API EM Erythromycin. Then there is also API TC Tetracycline with Tetracycline as the active ingredient, which is another great broad spectrum antibiotic. Seachem Kanaplex has yet another strong broad spectrum antibiotic Kanamycin. API Furan - 2 has nitrofurazone.
I also have some erythromycin and nitrofurazone in tabs.
