Does anyone have pics of their gigantea at night?

There are a lot of pictures of beautiful gigs but can you share your pictures of them when they are not at their full blown glory? I've got my first one recently and want to know how they look when the lights start to go down or when the lights are fully out. Below is a picture of my one at night. I think it's ok but have no idea. If it's not then at least I can do something about it sooner rather than later. Maybe I'm just over worrying but it may help others like me and put our minds at ease.

I see mine almost every night (just a force of habit as I look at LPS feeders/sweepers) and mine always looks like it did with the lights on , maybe a little smaller than normal but pretty much open and upright .

That is not normal. My is slightly smaller at night, like D-Nak, about 75-80%. Never deflated like your's.

Ho much is it's mouth open?

I can not get anything to scale on its size, so trying to picture what is where, inside it.

it looked fine last night when i got home. I was doing some maintenance on the tank like cleaning the glass, doing a water change, swishing the sand a bit so the water got cloudy and it started to retracted slowly until it looked like in the 1st picture by the time the lights had fully gone out. in the 2nd picture on post 6, i would say its about 20% of its normal size.
it's retracted but its never been limp or look floppy. always solid with the mouth maybe open just a little bit. nothing at all to look like its ill.
ever since my little lighting incident a few days ago, it's acted strange. My mag on the left has not changed whereas the light tan mag on the right has moved down to a rock an inch or so lower.
Maybe I've still got the lights on too high? and near the end of the day, its had enough lighting?
I'm out tonight so will try and get some hourly photos on saturday.
I think there are 2 options open to me.

1. Be patient, leave things as they are for a few more days.
2. lower my lights by 5%

Any thoughts?

Even though the mouth is tight, it's not looking good. Has this one been treated with Cipro? This doesn't appear to be a lighting issue, if it was it would most likely move. Typically when gigs flatten out like it is in the last photo, it's because they're sick.

Wife is taking pics for me. I don't usually see it at this time if the day. I guess it doesn't look the best...

That anemone regressed badly since when he was at his best. I would se.

I don't have luck with Magnifica and Gigantea together. Who among us have these two species together for more than 4 months?. We should have a poll of success and failure of these two species together.

While it may initially appear healthy, I think there is something wrong. The tentacles should be extended quite a bit further, on average of about 1" in length. The overall appearance should be that of a shag carpet -- very full, without the ability to see the oral disc.

Can you give us some parameters? What is your flow like? Judging by the sandbed, is it in an area of lower flow? Typically though, this doesn't affect a gigantea, and you may even see its tentacles elongate and appear to "vibrate" back and forth. Some even hypothesize that this is to aid in respiration by creating an artificial flow across the oral disc.

As Minh mentioned, it could be allelopathy with the magnifica. If you can set up a QT tank again and transfer it, if it perks up, it could definitely be allelopathy between the two. Otherwise, step up the flow to the gig to bring it more water, and add a lot of carbon to your system. Good luck!

For comparison, here's what my gig looks like during early morning prior to any lighting other than ambient (just took the photo at 9:00AM PST):

And here's what it typically looks like during the day:

Hey d-nak
Thanks for your input. I had a read of your thread and it is very informative. I agree there may be some underlying issue but As you can see from my pics throughout the day, it seems to be looking a lot better. Tonight it has only deflated down a little, maybe 80 to 70%. I did increase the flow this morning.
The day before it went bad I did feed it a piece of king prawn, probably the largest I've ever fed it, not large large, but biggish. Would this have contributed to the deflate?
I will perform a full set of tests tomorrow morning as it is late now. I will also do a video to try and show the flow on the gigantea. Take a look at my thread from page 2

I have only had it for just over 1 month so itis still in the early stages and the tenticles are probably not as shaggy as it should be.
I do have a qt ready but will see if the increase in flow makes any difference over the next few days.
Thanks again, I will keep this thread updated...
