Does anyone keep ctenochaetus hawaiiensis?

Chevron tangs are great fish. They go through a color change which is always fun and they pick detritus all day. Cant beat that.

I have one, and as saltycreefer said, it is a great fish. of note (perhaps only for my fish)- the brillinat juevnile color phase did not l;ast long. I like the looks of the adults, but I was hoping for a little more "chevron" in my chevron. I got him a small juvi (about 1.5 ") and he is now close to 3", and has a light reticulted pattern on his head showing a little orange, but otherwise, he's dark with mint green lines. Like I said, I like him, but perhaps dont expect the chevron orange and brown clors for long. Or maybe i was just unlucky (or lucky that he grows so quick).

Pics are tough, because in every pic, he just looks black. He's the one far left (just looks like a black outline).

Mine is now at 4-5" & changing colors, getting darker. They are constant swimmers & grazers. Also very easy going compared to my purple & achilles.
I feed my tangs lots of nori sheet & mysis soaked in selcon/garlic extreme. They never let the nori just drift around the tank. Most of the time it's a 3-way tug of war.

I had one in my old 120.. I bought him locally for $100 it definetly changes to a dull color in time, but a great fish for a reef tank you dont see everyday..

Anyone with a ctenochaetus strigosus (kole tang)?

You might want to start another thread for that?

But I think a kole tang is a better fish for a reef tank. Stays smaller than the chevron.
