Does anyone know a good electrician??

Looking for a reasonable electrician in the middletown area, or someone else who knows how to wire a seperate breaker box to run a large tank setup.

Anyone who is not an electrician, but is reasonably astute at "code" wiring I would be happy to pay for their services.

I asked about this a couple weeks ago, no body is an electrician but a couple guys recommended a good book or 2 that steps you through it.

Iv been reading around and alot of people are saying if your current electrical box isnt full you could just use that 1 and set up a couple dedicated circits for the tank.

Hows your tank coming any pics of the set up yet? I can't wait to start my project even though im clueless to overflows, baffles, plumbing, returns and all that good stuff that comes along with big tank set ups lol.

Unfortunately there is no room in my box now for another breaker, and my wife is not wild about me playing with the high voltage lines to the house. I am doing some reading and trying to come up with a game plan.

There is really no progress other than probably setting up the sumps downstairs this week. The tank is being assembled in NY and should be fininshed this week. We are looking to place it on Jan 12th, and doing the main plumbing the last week in January.

If anyone is available for moving on the 12 th that would be great.

my only 2c would be to stay away from Cheifo electric if you go with someone out of the phone book... I used them once and found them to be a rip off and rude..

New breaker no joke

New breaker no joke

I agree with your wife in that installing a new breaker is for professionals only. This is money well spent. Ask him about putting in a few circuits with GFI in the panel that protects the entire circuit. I would also suggest multiple circuits around the tank allowing you to split up critical components (water pumps, power heads) to avoid the entire system being down if one GFI circuit kicks out. This has happened to me and it could have caused a wipeout if I hadn't discovered it so soon.

Another electrical upgrade

Another electrical upgrade

Another thing to consider once you get the electrician there is having capability added to run some or all of your electric via generator during power outages. I had a special circuit added that allows me to plug my Honda generator feed into the panel (after turning off the main of course) during power outages so that I'm not running extension cords and power strips everywhere. Just a thought...
