does interceptor kill clams?

Hey guys, this is my first post here and I wish it was on better terms. I have found redbugs in my sps tank :0 I just bought a intercept pill (for up to a 100# dog) I have been reading up.on doing my tank ( a lot on this site hence the new membership) I figure I will dose 1/4 of the pill two times, once a week ( 3 times if necessary) I will take out all the hermits and snails that I can, I will also be taking out my shrimp, but I am curious as to weather or not I should take out my clams? I have 6 of them and i can place them in another tank if necessary I just need to know if I should.

Interceptor will not kill clams, I just did a treatment myself and my derasa is as fine as can be. My cleaner shrimp didn't make it though, which I pretty much knew was going to happen.

My current tank is a 75g with 30g sump, I have about 150lbs of LR in it though so I just guesstimate 75g. I used a half of the large dog pill. I left it in for about 12 hours then did a 10% water change and replenished carbon. No red bugs in sight!

Any one else with clams ever treated with interceptor?????

Yep... I've got 5 clams and accidentally OVERdosed Interceptor... nothing in my tank except for my cleaner shrimps were affected (they died). I've done the full treatment (once a week for 3 weeks) and no ill-effects.

In the original report of interceptor, extreme overdoses were done with no noticeable ill effects. When I just recently did it, I did about 1/4 of a big pill, which I believe treats around 80 gallons. I did two doses 4 days apart with no effects besides inverts. This was a few weeks ago. Pods are bouncing back but no red bugs. Red bugs are also "live bearers", so one dose would theoretically kill them all. The other doses are mainly precautionary in case they are hidden in the rock-work or coral polyps where they are not as easily exposed. Even so, i would still recommend doing numerous doses.

Awsome. Thanks so much guys. I'm sure that all of u asked a million questions before your first attempt at dosing heartworm meds :)thanks again. I'll keep every1 posted on my progress. I'll be doing my first treatment this weekend.

Absolutely! I'm always extremely cautious when adding something that smells like a doggy treat to my tank! :D
