my green pocc. is very large now and I have been noticing little deposits all over my rock of the same color and ployp extension as my green pocc. colony. It has a more encrusting look however not large enough to be branches and I mean it is showimg up everywhere. Could this be my poccillipora spawing? Looking identical and its all over the place at random bases of pluges, glass, rockwork, everywhere

Yes. It's your poccillipora spawning. Whenever I see one I just use epoxy to cover it up. Probably a good idea to get rid of the colony.

P. damicornis is a brooder, and an excellent one for research. Yes, your adult colony is releasing planua larvae that are settling out as primary polyps, and they will develop into full-blown adult colonies that can then release their own brooded larvae, etc.

I at one time had P. dam covering the entire back wall of my 120, which looked awesome, but as others have mentioned, they become something of a pain when they settle out right next to that prized ORA "something-or-other" acro that then gets out-competed for space by the P. dam.

To control, you can epoxy or drizzle kalk paste of the recruits to cull them. You can also use Night Sea to help find them after the lights have gone out. You might be very surprised to see how many you actually have... The planua larvae also fluoresce, so you'll see little "flatworms" crawling around that are glowing.

Cheers
Mike

the only way to truly control it is to get rid of it

Yes, you can epoxy/glue over, chip and or cut them off, but you will have it everywhere, and I mean everywhere in the months to come.

pocis lose their appeal real quick once they do this to you. It is no doubt an awesome thing to happen, and pretty cool at first, but tell me how you feel about it 6 months from now ;)

I have a baseball sized pink porci and I have started to see new baby colonies start in a few placed.

Oh no, how do I tell if I have one that will spawn all over my aquarium? I definitely don't want that to happen, should I just get rid of my Pocillopora now?

I do not have one of these and sounds like I am glad I don't! Like xenia and GSP, the gift that keeps giving...

yea i am still debating over it i mean i get rid of the colonies but still have 200 baby colonies growing. Do they have to reach a sextual maturity before the begin reproducing?

Mine is dropping them like Kenya Trees all over the tank and frag tank. Literally.
I will just have to wait till the colonies grow out then just break them off at the base and pitch them or give them away. Starting to get excessive.
