Does your Sebae (whitew/purple tips) host a clown?

Orbit fixture. 1 65watt blue and 1 65 watt daytime. dont know the parameters right now and it has been running right around 6 months.

That's not enough light for an anemone, IMO...you may need to upgrade your lights in order to save it.

Since you probably don't have time to rush out and get lights try putting it up higher on a rock. If you have a rock that is kind of scooped, try that with a little sand in the bottom of the scoop (kinda like a spoon). My first guess is what slakker said: it's not getting enough light. BTW, my sebae is attached to a rock and partially in the sand--I never say an anemone do that before. You need to get it up higher quite soon. Also, recheck your parameters. And, are you feeding it?

I put it up on a high rock but i dont know if that will do much good. My ph is a 8.3 my KH is 13 no2 is at <0.3mg/l and the ammonia in between the 0 mg/l and 0.25mg/l my test kit is kinda cheap and it is just matching the colors to a chart so it might be off by a little bit. I have noticed that the nen has gotten worse since i bought it so i should probly find it a better home or take it back to the store.

Oyster--my current calculation is that the ammonia is causing the problem. Anemones require really good water. If it were me, I would see if your store will hold it for you until you get your parameters more in line. You should have no reading of ammonia at all. The ammonia is representing a problem that you need to fix asap. And, while you're solving this problem perhaps you can add Amquel to the tank because that will bind the ammonia and take the stress off of your other animals. Hope this helps.

just do a water change then to help the ammonia go down. I dont think my store would hold it and it is about an hour away for the closest one so i dont know if it is worth takeing it there and haveing to get it again.

and about the light not being enough i thoght it was supposed to be 3-5 watts per gallon. it is 130 watts in a 30 and that is 4.3 so how is that not enough but i might be wrong.

Hi oyster--do a 25-30% water change tonight or tomorrow. Probably tomorrow so that you can aerate the water for a good while (preferably 24 hours). Also, is it accepting any food? Regarding light: generally anemones can be treated like sps when it comes to lighting. However, from my reading sebaes don't like strong current so that might be something else you can check. Are its tentacles moving a lot or just very, very gently?

It will usally eat some brine if i squirt it in the tentacles but i only do that like once a month. the current doesnt really go to hard past it.

Ok, lets try this:
1. Do some big water changes to get that amonia down
2. Try feeding it more frequently
3. Get it higher in the light
4. Pray

Any type of clown will host in almost any type of anemone (with the exception of smaller ones, and a select other few).

Clownfish are host specific to anemones in the wild and in our fish tanks. A. Clarkii is the only clownfish to host in all clown Pacific anemones. The rest of the hosting clownfish usually only host a 2-3 anemones on average. So when you say "any type of clown will host in almost any type of anemone" is not very factual.

I it up on a rock with somesand and thought it looked good it was there for a while but i got home from a friends and it was upside down on the bottom of the tank. so i cant get it to stay high up. should i just give up and get a BTA or will that give me the same problem.
