Don;t use X10 modules for your heaters.......

Slave to the reef!
Apparently one of my X10 modules decided to quit working last night, my tank got down to 75 last night, then i thought i had things figured out. A few hours later i checked it and it was almost 83 and the heater was still on, glad i was home to catch this one.....

I now have a pile of non working x10 modules 4 of them to be exact, wonder what iut is that makes these things stop working.

Shouldn't need to be a special heater should it? The x10 modules just switch on and off with signals generated from the controller based on the temp probe.

So far my x10 on the heater is working fine. I do keep a heater plugged in set at 78 for a fail safe. So far it hasn't been used.

I bought a phase coupler/repeater also, not sure if it helps but so far so good. I did have one x10 receptacle stop working after a week, it was only on my Koralia though.

Jeremy, how are your other x10's working, like on your lights?

Wav ask coralfreak I have never used x10 but i remember him saying they were not reliable, he had them do funky things.
he recomended only using them on non critical items.

You should always have your heater(s) set to never exceed a certain point with their own, built in thermostats. Make sure you are using the 3 prong X-10s on heaters. I never had one fail on my heaters, not really sure what caused that.

They can and will do funny things over time, electrical noise can cause potential issues etc. The DC boxes are much more reliable, not to mention quiet, no clicking noise.
