Couldn't have said it myself. They are not that expensive! Look for locals around you... ask around. People sell them for cheap or will even sometimes give them away for free!!!

Maybe this would do better in the trade forum? That way, you could just post what you have to trade someone in frags for new zoas?

:D

Wow what a nice "community" we have here.

Well then start bagging up a bunch of your zoos and send them his way. Im sure he will appreciate it.

What I did was find my local reef club, in your case the forum for them is here and ask around there if anyone had any polyps anyone would sell you that were inexpensive. I did that as I wanted to try them out in my tank before I spent $80 only to find out I had a loch ness monster that would eat them or something.

I had four responces within a couple hours of people willing to help me out for free to $15. I drove a few miles, spent $10 and now have my first frags. Today, I received my second one, my first purchase via RC. :)

Oh, your local club has a website at http://www.marineaquarist.org/

Hope this helps

Hey elzool,

I forgot to tell you i have some more frags for you lol.

Yea just ask around in local clubs and im sure you can get them for free. What i started doing is a Prop tank and sell them to locals for cheap. I think its a good way of getting locals good coral for great price.

I would help you out if I wasn't still growing out my colonies.
The only reason I would give them to him for free is bacause at least 6 people from here did exactly that after my tank crashed. All unsolicited.;)

I just see people willing to help new people and then I see people wanting to send them on their way. This is a forum to get advice not to dismiss people because they are in the "wrong hobby". When I first started this hobby I spent $$$$$ to by corals at the lfs only to take them home and watch them wither away. Some of my most beautiful corals are from fellow reefers. I never said that I was sending him some zoa, (and I don't feel I need to brag up my colonies) but I also don't think we should dismiss any questions placed on RC.

You are in sacramento.....go out to Roseville off of Cirby Ave... to YourReef. He had tons of zoa frags at 12.50 a piece with about 10-15 polps each for frag packs at 9 for 99...for 5 for 55.

Here are some exaples of ones I've gotten from John..most have grown out by now...

However, I wouldn't go looking for handouts...not really polite. But if you joing the club, we are haveing a frag swap soon that you can attend and should be able to obtain quite a few beginner corals. Here is a link to a tread that is talking about it that you can gain some info about it from..
