I recently purchased a Dendrophyllia, and it closed up for the past two days. I didn't know if I would ever get to feed it, but this evening its mouth was gaping open, so I seized the opportunity.
The good news is that after the lights turned off, the tentacles were fully out again.
It is doing much better since that day. Thanks for asking. That first couple of days with it gaping had me worried, but since then I'd changed a bunch of water and ran ROWAphos to get that water tip-top again. Here's one more feeding shot, if you look very closely.
Thanks! When we ran this tank as a freshwater planted tank we had black sand for a substrate. When we switched over to salt we added two bags of live sand, kind of gives it a salt and pepper look.

I thought this was pretty funny though...the polyps were fighting over this piece of squid...the big one won the fight!
