It looks to me like a very bleached H. crispa, commonly called "sebae anemone". It doesn't look to be in very good shape (which is why you couldn't find a good picture) and is going to take some TLC to keep it from dying.

That looks like a commonly store labeled white sabae anemone. What it is really is a bleached H. Crispa. The real color for that anemone is more grayish.

hmm

hmm

Well its always pure white and i just got it .... but here is the ticket on it ? and still nothing to compare to it other then "Haitian Reef Anemone"

The tentacles are misshapen because it's sick. Normally they are long and tapered, so the purple tips are very small.

wow thanks everyone ...and bradleym you have been very helpful since i went to reef i have learned alot.
and the name on the sales recipe, and what the store told me was VERY wrong ? please verify this so i can say something to the store on trying to screw over others and me

That's the problem with common names - technically you (or the store) can call it almost any ambiguous name (like "African White") and not be wrong - which is why everyone else has been calling it H. crispa (the scientific name).

The bigger issue is that they sold you an unhealthy animal.

Cheers
Mike

you should call or go back and complain... not that it will do much, LFS just wanna make a sale... so they'll probably argue you on it... you could try and print out some papers/images and bring them in :P

African White???? That kills me:lmao: You don't have a very good LFS there, they took total advantage of your newness to the hobby. This is a perfect example however, of why you are responsible for doing your own research before buying. Better luck in the future, and nursing this back to health.

Also, what type of lighting do you have on your reef? And how long has the set up been running? Have you read up on how demanding anemone are to keep?

I don't necessarily blame the LFS. They can't be expected to be experts on ALL aspects of the hobby. They often list things as the wholesaler listed them. The wholesaler probably got some white anemones from Africa, and simply called them "African whites", because they didn't know what else to call them. This is where knowing what you're buying becomes soooooo important. If you play the odds, this bleached anemone won't survive. It's nice to know these things before spending forty bucks.

Iam running New 48" 260W PL Aquarium Light Reef Marine Fish Tank Hood Light
just got that for the tank but the tanks been up for over 1 year ....I just moved and decided to commit this tank to Neutral fish and moved the others into the back room .... But this is my 2nd tank to start .... I have a Sump (Eshopps Wet-Dry Filters WD-100CS) Bio ball set up with Skimmer and i put the heater in there also ... This anemone has been moveing around the tank the whole time i got it and is still doing just that ....
