im about to switch from seachem to bionic 2 part (original)....when i type in a 1 dkh increase for alk on the chemistry calculator its says ph will be a substantially higher....is there something i need to do speacial to dose this (im trying to go from 6.5 to 7.5 dkh) or is it ok to dose all at once

For big bumps in alkalinity, either go really slow with that soda ash recipe or use regular baking soda if you want to go faster with less effect on pH. The pH shift will be down instead of up, but it will be substantially less and only temporary.

I would still try to break it up into two or three doses over a couple of days.

I used B-Ionic for years, and it was fine, although I switched to the DIY eventually. I don't know much about the cost of the various supplements per unit of dKH.

so bionic is pretty good? it seems like you have to use alot to get the same effect

More than something else? The original B-ionic is about as potent as most alk supplements can be. It is less potent than calcium only supplements because the alk part limits how concentrated any two part can be. :)
