Dosing bacteria

Hoping I can cut down on paging through threads and google. Can anyone share some good links to bacteria dosing? Maybe ones you've saved? I've dosed vodka, vinegar and sugar in the past but looking for articles on actually bacteria dosing. I'm not sure I'll do it but it's an area I want to learn more about.

Thanks in advance.

JMHO, but some of the claims I've seen on bacterial dosing sound like flim flam. Things like 'a cycle in a bottle', 'billions of live bacteria in every dose', etc. sound too good to be true or are a misapplication of statistics/numbers. Zeovit seems to have the biggest following but, and correct me if I'm wrong, it seeks more to balance (on the head of a pin IMO) bacterial populations than to supplement them.

That said, I'd love to follow along with any scientific studies you run across. I'm facinated by the nitrogen cycle (strikes me as a very elegant solution to waste disposal) and if something makes the cycle more robust in our tanks, it certainly has value.

I agree, the claims on a lot of these products are pretty aggressive. I'd rather not go down the Zeovit path, but it's just interesting to me and -- if anything -- I'm really just hoping to learn a few things while reading about it.

Elliot started a thread here on the MB7. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2090960

I'm only about half-way through it and there are a lot of articles linked in there. I'd like to get his thoughts too.

Microbacter 7 by Brightwell. Super easy to dose. Liquid gold in a bottle :)

Did/do you dose continually or just to get the population going?

And on a side note Zibba, I picked up the Bennett tort frag at Aquarius on Sunday. It's a sweet piece.

Nice score. That was a good size piece. We only had about 10 minutes to get back there after the movie on Sunday, so we didn't get to pick up the few pieces we were interested in. Hopefully they'll still be there when I get back.

I wasn't going to go here, but since you started down this path...

From what I know about MB7, it's cultured in vats of phosphate and nitrate, then bottled. And that's coming from someone who's been there at production. Elliot's findings don't surprise me.
