Dosing kalk through ATO

I want to start dosing kalk through my newly setup ATO.
I have a 44 gallon Brute trash can for the reservor
and an ATO float switch on the line from my RO/DI unit so the
RO unit will keep the ATO reservor full all the time. I'm not sure
how to dose the kalk on a consistent basis because the kalk to water ratio
will be constantly changing in the reservor.
Any ideas or help would be great!

Thanks

I had the same issue with my 22 gallon ATO reservoir. My "advantage" is that I didn't have a float switch to automatically refill the ATO reservoir. I put marks on the side of the reservoir in 5 gallon increments, that way I would now how much kalk to put whenever I did maintenance. You can have a separate RODI storage bin that automatically gets refilled with your flloat valve/RODI, while your ATO reservoir then gets refilled manually with a known volume just by opening a valve letting you know how much kalk to put in. Or make the float valve supplied 44 gallon brute your RODI reservoir and plumb in a new ATO/Kalk reservoir, same thing.

Thanks for the quick reply, I think I may have to do more manual control than I wanted. Some good ideas, thanks. Maybe I'll set two 15 gallon barrals in stead of the one 44 gallon and have one kalk ATO to the tank and the other RO water with the float switch. I like the idea of having gallon marks so I'll know how much water I've used and how much new kalk to add.

People (like me) who use limewater (kalkwasser) reservoirs and ATO's do not constantly fill them. We make a batch, and use it until it is mostly gone, then make another batch, etc.. :)

IMO, this is the best way to use limewater, and I have been doing that way for more than 15 years. I presently make up 132 gallons at a time. :)

I also use a Brutte to store top off water with a float valve at the top. What I did was put a valve at the bottom of the brute that I use to fill up the 13 gallon container that I use for Kalk. Makes for a quick and easy refill of the limewater tank :).

I vote for a Avast Marine Kalk Reactor plumed into the ATO. Easy and all you do is top of the Kalk powder every two weeks. NO muss no Fuss!

Just throw a cup of kalk in it and dont worry about it. When its half gone throw in a 1/2 cup of kalk and top it off with water, etc, etc. Limewater can only have so much saturation. Whatever doesnt mix up will sit at the bottom and mix in with the next batch
