If you are still in the planning stages the Tunze Osmolator uses electric eyes to measure the water level with no sensors to stick. It is definitely the say to go

And there is a Calcium dispenser that can be added to the system (probably any system that works the same) to add Kalk automatically to your top off water.

I am planning a tank upgrade sometime in the next year or so... so I am gonna use the float switch for now, and consider the tunze for the future. Thanks for all the info guys!
