dosing Mg.

I finaly broke down and got a Mg test. Turns out it is a little low. I would imagine that I need to bring it up to the range with a concentrated amount, (considering B-ionic Mg Strotium because I use B-Ionic already), like when setting ones Ca and Alk originaly. And then the B-ionic daily dosage of the two part should take care of the daily coral intake.

So, who has dosed Mg and played with the levels, is there a stocihometric level based on Alk/Ca levels because I know all three are linked in coral building. I know that correct levels in Mg stabilize the Alk/ Ca even more. Mg from what I have read is an important element in getting SPS to grow faster.

Soooo.....say my alk is on the lower end of the 7-11dkh range,(8dkh), would the Mg level be at the lower or higher end of the recommended range of (1200-1500?), stoichkly speaking that is. Thanks-Doug

I know Minh was going through this awhile ago......any input?

Just bring the alk up to about 10 using the B-ionic. The Mag should be alright. Or you can use seachem reef advantage. Its a Ca suppliment and it includes a balanced dose of mag in it. Do you have a heavy kh load?.. (lots of stony)

I have found the best for my SPS is in the 8dkh range, 10 is pushing the upper limit and is not needed any more as once thought. I get better coloration that way.

What I am looking for is a chart or equivalancy comparing Alk and Mg in the same way Alk and Ca are equivalant because they are all balanced at a certain level, that varies with each dkh level. You know high Alk, Low Ca.....med Alk, Med Ca....equivalant.

Dosing two part without having the Mg/Ca/Alk already in balance just keeps things out of balance and perpetuates the gap between them.

Looking for a chart....

Thanks I will try that, someone else had the link but it was dead then...Ill try it now....
