Dosing Pumps

I got one of these recently...

Chem-tech D100 dual head dosing pump. This thing looks seriously industrial, but cool. Any reason not to use it for a 2 part dosing pump?

I got it used for a fraction of the new price. A single head new is like $175... I'm guessing mine is north of $225

For your consideration in making your decision:

What is the distribution rate and adjustment steps? Can the rates be adjusted individually? How precise is the dosage volume over time, maintenence requirements. Are the internals and the materials corrosive in a marine enviroment that could lower the reliabity of the pump or contaminate the tank?

most of thes ones I see are perastilac, and there may be a reson for it.

I have used that same pump. You are never going to be able to match the flow rate of the two heads perfectly. You will probably also have a problem turning it down low enough for two part. They are awesome for Kalk though. It will run for years before needing to be cleaned. One other thing put it in your garage or basement, they are very noisy.

If you have the means get a LiterMeter3 with an extra pump for two-part. It is a big purchase but will work flawlessly and last for years. It will also save you a lot of frustration in the long run.

It was sold to me by another reefer as part of a package deal. It was a one of a kind and an as-is sale.

They are diaphram pumps, right? What's the normal life time of a diaphram on these bad boys? Our's (different brand) last about a year at our facility (saltwater use).

I've seen them run as long as 4 years before they were removed for re-desiging.

FWIW I used the single head vesion of this pump for 8 years (kalk) and the only thing I had to do to it was clean it every 2-3 years.

I'm offering this item up for sale for $125. I believe it retails in the > $250 range. This is for a large tank. I ended up buying a new tank on Friday that was considerably smaller than I had planned, so this will be a bit overkill.

I highly reccomend the Litermeter... Very nice quality piece of equipment. The BEST thing I ever got for my reef and I think I've bought atleast 1 of everything over the years.
