Dosing question

I have A 2 channel dosing pump for alk and cal. Right now I have the 2 output tubes running in the main tank over an mp 40. My question is it better to have the 2 output tubes together or have them apart and dosing in different coners of the tank, alk in one corner and cal in the other?

As disc1 stated yes you can ,just not at the same time because when the 2 parts mix at the same time they basically wash each other out and you don't have the same effect that your looking for with dosing

sure about this?

I can understand if dosing at the same time that the tubes should not be right together to prevent precipitation but if the tubes are separated can't see why couldn't add the alk and Ca at the same time (basically my Ca rx does).

Yeah, if the tubes are far enough apart that the concentrated alk never gets in contact with the concentrated cal it's fine. If you have a couple of high flow areas where everything gets mixed up fast enough. I only meant that if you have the lines in the same location you can't dose the two at the same time.

Either that or stagger the doses by a little bit. I do every other hour. Alk is even hours and cal is odd hours. The problem is that alkalinity precipitates calcium. So when you are dosing them both in the same spot at the same time, they fall out of the water as insoluble and don't get in to raise the level.

my doser isn't running now but have the tubes about 6" inches apart over my sump. Figure at 2.5ml/min with 1000gph through my sump I'll get enough dispersion to dose at the same time.
