where do you dose you calcium? into the sump next to a skimmer? or is better to dose it into the return flow area of your water going back into the tank in the sump????? or what area do others prefer?
I agree with aztecdreams, an area where it has time to mix in such as the over flow, near the skimmer, or where the entry point to your sump is - is best. As long a concentrated amount doesn't land on a coral, you should be fine.
I aslo dose in the first chamber of my sump, so it has as much contact time with water to try and mix with the water before it makes it's way back to the display.
Everytime I've put it into the display it has landed on corals and burned tissue. I now dissolve it in a cup of RO/DI and dose it through my sump. Word to the wise...don't use a plastic container, the stuff gets HOT.
Always dose turbo calcium in the sump as it is a pretty potent chemical. be careful not to overdose as it will bind up your carbonate hardness and eventually lower you ph. I hate turbo calcium for that reason. it is too harsh a substance to monitor, and if you aren't careful to watch your Kh you could have some serious problems.
