For people that just like to look at pretty pictures and dont like to bounce around reading, this is something cool to look at:

What I think is also neat, is he has his fixture raised 7" and still getting those numbers. Typically, and me included, keep the fixture around 3-5" above the water's surface.

That tank is ran by (6)39w T5.

This tank is ran by (4)400w 10k Reeflux bulbs in Lumenarc reflectors supplemented by (4)160w VHO actinic bulbs and (8)75w VHO .

Not to compare apples to oranges, as the MH tank is 25" deep where as the T5 tank is 16", however, we are also talking about a difference of 2,840w(or 2.84kw) opposed to 234w!!!
But informative nonetheless :)

I just got in from the weekend, so nope, but thanks for the heads up. I will have to read up and see how they are cheating!!!

Honestly, I am of the opinion lately that a little less, more evenly distributed light....say from SE MH or even.....gasp......T5's are better than blindingly over doing it with 400's.

I wanted to give you a little grief from you "colorful" frags FS the other day, but thought it in poor taste......

Don't be a stranger Justin!!!
