Doug's 300DD Starphire Reef Build

Will do. Thanks, Roman.

Just posted some pics in the build thread. Took possession of the tank today. Now the real work begins.

Been working on the canopy. Update with pics of progress. Hard to see in these pics but the top will open independently from the front and the front will open independently. Next step is to build doors which will not be hinged but magnetized.

Wow, you are starting to give me the fever again. Is there a reason why you decided to go with a single overflow as opposed to dual?

Since I have the dual overflow on my 156 I wanted just the one overflow this go around. Mainly because of the way I plan to rock scape and do the foam rock wall on back glass. The one overflow will free up some room at least this is what I can invision.

I posted some pics in the large tank thread yesterday of my foam rock build. For those of you that have not visited this forum lately I will go ahead and post some of the same pics on our local forum. I have been busy work on the rock foam wall for the back of tank and around the overflow box. As you can see the 3 upper square cut outs they are where my new Tunze 6105's will be placed. Now applying the resin and sand to foam. More pics to come.

that foam wall should look really good when set up. Don't be afraid to give it some overhangs! You're on your way to a bad *** new tank

I may predrill some holes for overhangs to attach after wall is in tank. Here are some pics of the sand on front wall only. I have one more coat of resin and sand to do on front and the backs. I ran out of the resin hardner so will need to get more to finish job.

Doug and Susan...THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT MEAL...There is nothing more fun than to get togeather with friends to BS about fish and corals and to top it off you guys had a Killer Meal......we should all get togeather more like that....I am STILL full!!!!!! Now...Doug.....DO WATER!!

can't wait to see that wall in there with your aquascaping. I think that will be cool and a brilliant idea if it keeps you from having to deal with scraping the back glass.

That tank is heavy!!! lts gonna be an awsum sight to see when its completed! Along the lines of Mike above, that was probably bar none the best Bar-B-Q I have ever had, Rib Crib is like Dog food to me now, I am ruined, if you ever leave your day job, you seriously have a good back up profession.
