I haven't looked too hard, HD doesn't have it. But does anyone know where I can get Dow Flake (or calcium chloride dihydrate) in the Tampa Bay area?

there is a place near the airport that will get it for you for $20 a 50lb bag but you want pelladow because it is better . if you search my name you will eventually find it. there is also another site that has the info that would be easier to find on but I can't let that info go. sorry it's against rc rules and regulations. I can't remember the name of the chemical company but if I run across it I will let you know I will try to search my thread subscription from a little while back. pelladow is more resistant to humidity and is cleaner according to the manufacturer. it is pellets instead of flakes. I have had some in a kalk bucket with no rubber seal for about 2 years and it isn't even the slightest bit clumpy. this company will get you kalk and magnesium also if you want it.

Airport place is Chem Stat, inc.
They can get you anything you need. I've used them.

I'm using their stuff for a homemade two part. Works great.

michindi - this is used to make part 1 of a home made 2 part additive. This supplies calcium, baking soda supplies the alkalinity. This is all I have used for over a year. Here is the link for the reciepe if you want to try it. (Big advantage is cost....it costs me right at $1 per month, and I dose 75 ml of each part daily)

robthorn - yes I am. I use a combination of epsom salts and magnesium chloride hexahydrate as described in the 2 part receipe. About a cup every month keeps my magnesium aroung 1400.

Awsome! thanks guys......
My wife thinks
I'm turning into a MAD chemist! She says "just buy the B-ionic". but the way I look at it, its just giving more money to play with live stuff in the tank.....
