Dow Flake

Up north, it's common as a de-icer. In Texas, it might not be. If you can't find it at HD/Lowes, call around to pull stores, ask if they sell bags of calcium, then get them to confirm if they have the Dowflake brand. That's how I got mine.

That should be POOL stores (brain thinks one thing, fingers type another)
 
I was also having trouble finding CaCl2 at local HDs and Lowes here in Florida. Luckily, one of my patients own a small hardware store and he ordered a 50 lb bag for me for $15. It is not Dow but the composition says it is "minimum 70% CaCl2" and the rest is NaCl. I guess, that wouldn't be an issue. Before that, I saw CaCl2 at the "pool" section of HD but a 5-lb bucket costs $13, now if I can only find the receipt. :(
 
I was in Dallas last year, and was grounded because of ice storm, if they carry de-icer, they should have it.
 
I know they have Pool supply stores in Texas, check with them. You may have to read thru a few bags, but I bet you will find it there.

It looks like they only give you 11-12 cups though. You can probably buy a full bag for that amount? If you can find it.
