I got some of, what I believe is Efflo from Tim at ABC Reefs. He had it in his home tank. As much time as he spends on other peoples, he let a few things slide in his own tank. I'm trying to rehab it for both of us as I have a more SPS friendly system.

What color is it when it's looking good?
What flow, lighting should I have it in?

Right now I've had it on the bottom for about a week. Polyps are out, but it doesn't seem to want to color up.

Thanks.

Nice find! Efflorescens soli appears in a variety of color variants. Here is a picture of one that looks like mine: http://images.google.com/imgres?img...oral&um=1&hl=en&rlz=1T4SUNA_enUS273US273&sa=N
Its usually tannish with blue/purple rim and corralites. Its a beautiful plating/tabling sps that has the same requirements of other acroporidae corals: high light, high flow, good water quality etc. Mine lost some color as well due to lighting issues but is now coloring up nicely. Give it time, TLC and I'm sure it will come around and be one of your prize corals.

OOOOHHHH me likey!!

Yeah, I have had some other browned out corals that I rescued, and they seem to rebound within a week or two. I know I've got it low, but I think it's time to go top shelf. Just gotta fine the right real estate for a plater. (I actually have 2, not sure if I'm gonna tell Tim I saved em both :rolleye1: )

Thanks for the heads up!

Be careful raising it up if its been on the bottom for a while. There can be a huge difference in PAR values. It should be fine though. As Nate Rogers and others frequently point out, flow is at least as important as lighting in sps coloration so make sure it has plenty of indirect flow. Keep us posted. I promise I won't tell Tim:)
