I have one and they are really neat fish. Great personatlys and they keep your sand extreamly clean. I had him in my 10 gal for about 1 week with no problems. Now that he in the 25 gal though, everytime he sifts the sand through his gills litle particals fly around the tank. It almost makes the water constanty cloudy. Well i put him in my refugium for now, i would hate to get rid of him, but i can't stand my display being constantly cloudy. Now that he is in my refugium they tank is clear. Anyone here have one? Do you have this problem? I think i just have too much flow so the particals can't settle with all his shifting, the 10 gal didn't have quite as much flow and was more packed ith LR.

I have one of these fish in my 180g. I really liked him until I started adding corals. He has killed off a few of my 'lower' dwelling corals by continually dumping sand on them. It's very annonying and I'm trying to catch him but he's being sneaky. Yours definately looks quite small, this fish get's fairly big at 6" and about 1" thick.

he's about 4", he is kinda annoying he loved to dump sand all over my sun coral. I think i might actually take him back to the LFS. I figured the sand sifting would be a good thing lol

I admire the fact that you bought a fish that is usually looked over at the lfs. But now I hope it works out for the best.

BTW you are sooooooo lucky to live in Ft. Meyers! I visited there once with my folks and it was amazing especially sanibel and captiva islands. First time we went we saw all these amazing shells, butterflys, birds, ginormous aligator, crabs, etc! Amazing place!

I love the fish an IMO it is really pretty, the pic doesn't do him justice, the darkbars are almost black and the greenish stripes are really bright. I think i'm going to get rid of him though, i don't think he deserves living in the sump and he keeps ****ing of my sun coral and making the water too cloudy.

I actually like in cape coral, but it's all the smae, cape coral is just across the toll bridges. Cape coral is just alot nicer than fort myers. We just went to sanibel/captive last weekend, but the water was too cold, but we still had fun :D The toll to get to sanibel/captive island is $6 though

Lol, you used to live in Alaska and you're complaining about the water temperature down HERE!?!

lol, jk;) .

I had one for about 1.5 years. The first week (maybe two) he was "settling in" and there was a bit of cloudiness as he was digging his holes and sifting sand. But after that he was a model citizen. He just sifted sand - there was no buldozing, no sand storms, no cloudiness, etc.

I'd say give it time. I don't know how long you had him in your 25g tank before moving him to your refugium, but I'd say put him back in the tank and give it a week or so to see if he settles in and settles down like mine did. I didn't have super fine sand though, so that might make a difference if you do. After he settled down and was just sifting sand, the sand particles would just float back to the bottom of the tank.

it was cold, it was like 30 degrees for a week. Even though it was like 85 when we went the water hadn't warmer up yet :D I know i'm a wimp lol

Are there a few reefs there? Visited some friends and took small boat out I think a bit north of where river comes out, and found a few very small patches, just swimming around.
It turned out to be quite an adventure as a vicious storm rolled in before we could get back into the river. Our boat almost got swamped, maybe near the wildlife refuge(I think). Luckily we got pushed into some backwater where there was someone`s dock, and waited the storm out. All I could think of was Gilligans island! LOL

there are some reef a ways away from land, but most of the reefs are more toward the keys.

Just an update, the dragon is now gone, i took him to a LFS and bought some more rock for my tank.

wow cutie, i used to live in cape coral. tudor dr.
theres a pet shop just over the bridge that used to have a monkey in the front, i wonder if its still there?

oh the cape coral bridge, there isn't any pet stores around there, it's a bunch of nail salons, fitness clubs and cafes ect.

hmmm. i may be confused.
this was like 6 years ago. which one goes to edison mall? the store i am talkin about was at the ft myers end of the bridge that went to the edison mall, except you turned right instead of going towards the mall. anyway, cool to find someone from my old neighborhood. good luck with the lionfish. sweet present!

well there is a petstore in fort myers over by petsmart, toysrus, ect and there is a pet store over there that has some monkeys and birds, it's called pet kingdom.

does the monkey in the front still bang his head against the wall? i felt so bad when i went in there, like he was lonely.
